RICH NAPIER OF POWHATAN COUNTY INSTALLED
AS PRESIDENT OF 2007 HOME BUILDERS ASSOCIATION OF
VIRGINIA

President of Napier Signature Homes
to Lead Statewide Trade Association
POWHATAN, Va. – Friday, Nov. 10, 2006 – A
Richmond-area custom home designer and builder will serve as the 2007
president of the Home Builders Association of Virginia.
The statewide trade association installed Rich Napier, president and co-founder
of Napier Signature Homes, at an installation ceremony at the Jefferson
Hotel in Richmond on Friday, Nov. 3. Napier along with the other 2007
HBAV officers will serve a one-year term. Mostly recently, Napier served
as first vice president and treasurer of the organization.
In his new role, Napier will work closely with his fellow members promote
a suitable environment to ensure the vitality of Virginia’s building
industry by engaging with the appropriate executive, legislative, and
regulatory agencies. HBAV, which celebrated its 50th anniversary this
year, includes 17 local chapters throughout the Commonwealth with approximately
5,700 member firms.
“I’m extremely proud to serve as president of the Home Builders
Association of Virginia as it begins its 51st year,” said Napier.
“The organization’s mission is clear as is my role to help
educate elected officials, the public and others on issues like governmental
regulation, taxation and smart growth.
“At times on the local and state level in Virginia, there is a big
disconnect between economic growth, the jobs created by this growth and
the subsequent demand for affordable housing,” Napier added. “Builders
don’t create growth. We respond to it. A healthy economy and job
growth create demand for housing. As an industry, Virginia’s home
builders are prepared to help our communities make sense of these tough
issues.”
About Rich Napier
Napier, whose father Oscar founded Napier Realtors ERA ® in 1958,
has worked in the real estate business since graduating from the University
of Richmond in 1974. He served as president of the family’s real
estate firm from 1983-‘89 and served as president of the Richmond
Association of Realtors in 1987. His brother Jim is now president of Napier
Realtors ERA.
Along with his father and brother, Napier started Napier Signature Homes
in 1989. In 2002, he served as president of the Home Builders Association
of Richmond, which is a member organization of the HBAV. This made Napier
the first person in local history to serve as both the president of the
Richmond Association of Realtors and Home Builders Association of Richmond.
